Kusadasi is located in the west of Turkey in the centre of a gulf on the shores of the Aegean Sea, 95 km from the province of Izmir.the name of the resort in translation means "Island of birds". The town received such a name thanks to the small island under the name "Pigeon Island", which is joined to the town by the small loose road. On this island for already a few hundred years nest pigeons, herons and other birds.

Kusadasi was a small fishing village and nowadays Kusadasi is one of the best resorts in Turkey. ~ Visit Kusadasi ~

The centre of Kusadasi is a must-see. In the centre of Kusadasi, there are two places to visit, the Caravanserai and the Pigeon Island Fortress are the two monuments of the city's past.
The caravanserai, facing the port, was built during the Ottoman Empire in 1619. The caravanserai was built in stone with a two-storey rectangular plan in the middle of a garden.

The fortress (Pigeon Island) was built on an islet in the 15th century and is still surrounded by walls and towers. From the top of the towers you can see the Gulf of Kusadasi with its marina.The beaches of Kusadasi: There are beautiful sandy beaches in the centre or near Kusadasi. Like the city beach in the centre, the ladies beach not far from the centre and the beach of Kustur, located 7 km from the centre on the road to Selcuk.
Dilek PeninsulaNational Park, located 30 km south of Kusadasi, is a protected natural park with tree-lined beaches where you can see wild animals such as Anatolian cheetahs and horses. It is an ideal place for hikers, green and quiet. Guzelcamli, located 3 km from the national park, is also a very pleasant place to stay.

~ Transport and travel in Kusadasi ~

Kusadasi has no public transport, only taxis and Dolmus (mini-buses). Prices are relatively reasonable. From Izmir airport, 60 kilometres away, there are many buses and coaches that take tourists to the main bus station near the centre. It is possible to rent a car in Kusadasi or at Izmir airport.
