Turkey Passport
Do you need a passport for Turkey? The answer is No, but this rule only applies under certain conditions, which we list below. You can also enter Turkey with a valid identity card (at least 5 months) if your purpose is a holiday and your stay will not exceed 90 days. No visa is required to cross the Turkish border. Pay attention to the Identity Card, an identity card with a renewal or extension stamp will not be valid.
The Identity Card is valid for entering the country by air or sea, or by train and car, if the borders in the south-east and east of Turkey are excluded. If you enter Turkey by car or train from the borders with Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Iraq and Syria, or Armenia, a passport is required.
Please note that the passport must have at least one free page for entry and exit stamps. Minors must also carry an individual passport or personal identity card.
Entry documents Turkey
If you are travelling to Turkey for reasons other than tourism, or if your stay will exceed 90 days within a 180-day period, you will require a visa.
Italian citizens coming to Turkey to work, study or reside must obtain a visa, which can be requested online at this address. From the site you can upload your data and request an appointment at the relevant consular office to present your original documents.
Health insurance coverage is compulsory to obtain a visa.
