  • Best period: December to April, the best period because of the warm but not excessive temperatures; in any case, temperatures in Miami are very pleasant all year round; for a beach holiday the best period is from mid-March to the end of April (after that there is too much sultriness)

  • Period to avoid: June to November because of possible hurricanes, more frequent from August to October

Miami's climate is tropical, with warm, pleasant winters and hot, sultry summers. Average temperatures are between 20° in January and 29° in July and August.

Rainfall is fairly frequent with a total of 1,500 mm per year. The wettest season is winter, with very frequent rainfall from December to February, while in summer, from May to October, there are numerous showers and thunderstorms with rain showers in a short time.

How to dress: what to pack

  • In winter: jacket, long trousers and some jumpers, trainers

  • In summer: light clothes such as shirts, tank tops, shorts, swimming costume, hat, sandals

  • In autumn and spring: light clothes, sweatshirt, umbrella, keeway to deal with storms, closed-toe shoes

When it's best to go to Miami: the cheapest time of year

Due to the extreme heat and the (however low) risk of hurricanes, the months between June and November are the cheapest. November is probably the best compromise. In any case, it is necessary to book at least three weeks before departure to be able to access favourable prices.

How much does a holiday in Miami cost? Prices, offers and tips

mare spiaggia costa miami beach Although Miami is thought to be an expensive city, it is actually less expensive than many European capitals.

Being very large, you can choose cheaper accommodation such as flats, B&Bs or hostels or more expensive ones such as luxury hotels.
Among the best areas to sleep we suggest South Beach, which offers the possibility to experience the sea and the beach during the day and to frequent many clubs at night.

For eating, there are several options; we recommend the inexpensive restaurants in Little Havana which are ideal for lunch (cost $15.00/€14.00) while for the evening you'll be spoilt for choice in the Ocean Drive or Lincoln Road areas. To save money during your stay, we suggest purchasing the Go Miami Card (prices $81.00 to $211.00/€72.00 to €190.00) which allows free access to over 25 attractions. The Miami & The Keys Explorer Pass, on the other hand, will save you up to 40% on transportation, excursions and tours ($90.00 to $130.00/€84.00 to €120.00).
